I Heart PJ Remix!!

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a subscription to Photojunction Remix, the photo industry’s leading album designing software solution. Having used a free trial version of it previously, I already had a fairly good idea of what I was in for… but as it’s been a number of months since I last used it, I was surprised by how quickly I fell in love with it again!

Coming from a graphic design and print production background, you might wonder what it is about PJ Remix that makes it so special to me. There’s SO many design and layout software options out there… surely they’re not offering anything new? Well, what makes PJ Remix great is it’s specifically geared and primed for some serious photo album creations boasting catalogues of previously created templates, a large listing of different album companies to allow you to prep your files accordingly and a wonderful ‘drag and drop’ interface that gives you the freedom to replace an image on any page in seconds.

Previously I have had to start from a blank slate each album. Designing my page layout first, resizing my images to fit the appropriate spots assigned to them on the page in Photoshop, bringing each image in separately to be placed and exporting each page individually…. it really eats up the time! With PJ Remix all of that is taken care of by the software. It creates low resolution ‘place markers’ for my designing stage and automatically replaces each one with an appropriate resized image upon export based on my predetermined album vendor specs. With PJ I have effectively been made the master of my album designing destiny!

Now I get to do what I truly love to do with album design…. focus on the art and balance of displaying your memories to their fullest! I’ve been given the freedom to be the photographer again and no longer have to be bogged down in resizing and mindless layout shuffling. Expect more and more from my albums everyone…. and I’m sure the months to come will yield some amazing samples to show off!
